The Time Traveller’s Wife
A long awaited film, I was so excited when I finally got to see this. Based on a book by Audrey Niffenegger, this was anticipated by all those who had read it, and those who knew of it. Hoping that this was not similar to other film adaptations we watched.
Never have a seen a film that captures the heart so quickly. You instantly feel for Henry, played by Eric Bana, and watch as he has to deal with some horrific circumstances. Not least the fact that he time travels with no control over destination or timing. His first meeting with Clare, Rachel McAdams, is both beautiful and hysterical.
This film is full of contrasts, all of which work perfectly. Even having the main character jump through time is not as confusing as you would expect.
To quote a friend, “There has never been a film adaptation which has stuck closer to it’s book counterpart.” Whether you have read the book or not you will not help but be moved by the beauty of this film and the emotion of the story. A contender for best film. 9/10 if not 10/10
I have now read the book… I have to admit, the book is better but I do agree that the film is very close.
Watch the film, read the book, you decide which is best.
